Frequently - Asked Questions
Q. What if it rains?
A. Sports are played in the rain. An old rule in training for sports. Train like you play.
Q. This seems awfully intense. My child is only in first grade/fifth grade/high school. Don't you have something a little... gentler?
A. Activities are age appropriate. So is the attitude. And safety is an utmost concern. That said, our extensive experience has shown us that kids generally don't want to be babied. They love the sense of pride that comes from achieving something difficult. Most of them (including girls) thrive in the rough-and-tumble world of competitive sports. Parents are often shocked to see how well their kids respond to the physical challenges, and how much their self-esteem grows in the process. And it doesn't take long for even the youngest athletes to learn that the "bark" is part of the fun.
Q. What if I cannot make some of the classes?
A. We want you to come as often as you can. But if you can't make every class? Not a problem! That's why we offer so many classes per week. Even at the peak of competitive season, most athletes are able to come several times a week. Almost every other company offering similar services only holds two classes a week for the same monthly price or higher.
Q. My child isn't headed for a professional sports career. Is all this really necessary?
A. Every athlete wants to win. It's part of the competitive nature of sports. This program is designed for love of the game, whatever game it might be. It's meant for athletes who want to reach their very greatest potential, whatever that potential might be.
Q. What should my athlete wear?
A. They should arrive dressed ready to go, wearing the DA t-shirt. Not tying one shoe while Mom is chasing them with their water bottle and sun block. Athletes come to practice prepared from the second they get out of the car. Same for bathroom needs. Go before they leave the house. Most parks do not have ready bathrooms.
Q. What if my child needs to take medications?
A. Whatever the doctors prescribe, they should take according to directions. Please be sure we know about any changes in an athlete's health, including allergies or asthma. Should they be required to take medications during training, they should bring it with their name on it in LARGE, CLEAR letters, and in a sealed bag in their Athletes Bag.
Q. Can parents watch training?
A. >From a distance.
